Community Assisted Transport Scheme (C.A.T.S) is a Bain Estate Future Fund iniative. The scheme pairs volunteer drivers with a client to ensure that services outside of our area can be accessed.​

Rates & Charges​​

Standard Fees: Short Trips: $30.00
Long Trips: $50.00
Compassionate Trips: $0.25 per km (ex GST)
Return Trips: Perth $140.00
Bunbury: $135.00
Albany $125.00

Who can use the service?
​​
The service is available to all residents of the shire;
-
For journeys to specialist medical appointments; or
-
Allied health appointments where the service is not available locally; or
-
For compassionate reasons;
Clients under the age of 18 shall be required to have a guardian accompany them on the journey.

Steps to become a C.A.T.S Volunteer Driver:

Download the Volunteer Driver Package

Read through the C.A.T.S Council Policy

Complete the attached Volunteer Driver Profile for C.A.T.S Form, and
-
Return the form to the Shire Admin. Present your drivers licence.

Sign the Confidentiality Agreement.

Complete the Induction Checklist with the coordinator, Helen Gooding

Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS)
The Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) provides permanent country residents in a WA Country Health Service region with financial assistance when travelling more than 100kms to access the nearest eligible medical specialist service (including Telehealth).
Country patients needing to travel more than 70kms to access specialist medical treatment for cancer or dialysis, where the health service is unable to provide a transport service, are also eligible for some assistance.
PATS provides a subsidy to eligible patients, however it does not cover all costs associated with travel and accommodation.
To access PATS a referral must be made by the patient’s medical practitioner. The application for PATS assistance needs to be lodged prior to travel via fax, mail, email or in person at the patient’s nearest health service.
