Christmas and New Years Opening Hours HERE
The Shire of Dumbleyung is thrilled to share plans for the future of the Dumbleyung Community Resource Centre (CRC) and the Bluebird Interpretive Centre — exciting developments that will enhance Dumbleyung’s profile and tourism offerings! The following initiatives are in progress:
🔹 Framing of the Bluebird Design Plans - COMPLETED August 2025
The famous Bluebird plans, integral to Donald Campbell’s world water speed record success on Lake Dumbleyung, will be professionally framed and proudly displayed within the CRC. The plans are currently held by local resident, Harley Bairstow, who is coordinating this framing effort with Shire funding support.
🔹 Showcasing the Segrave Trophy and Memorabilia
A special secured display is being developed to showcase the Segrave Trophy awarded to Donald Campbell and a range of other valuable memorabilia, offering visitors a deeper connection Dumbleyung’s history as a significant landmark site where world water speed history was made in 1964. These important artefacts were donated to the Shire of Dumbleyung by Gina Campbell (Donald’s daughter) as part of her 2014 visit. Harley Bairstow is also assisting with coordinating this activity.
🔹 Adoption of the Dumbleyung 5D Experience Concept Plan
The Shire has recently adopted a concept plan to establish an innovative 5D Experience; a purpose-built, eight-person capacity theatre adjacent to the CRC. This fully immersive attraction would allow visitors to relive Donald Campbell’s historic world record attempt, amongst other dynamic local stories. Subject to external grant funding, this cutting-edge experience has the potential to position Dumbleyung as a must-visit destination for tourists, history enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
