In 2021 the Shire of Dumbleyung had to tragically announce the closure of the Dumbleyung Swimming Pool due to the pool plant room not providing a safe environment for the public and Shire personnel. After much investigation the project grew as additional faults to the site came-to-light upgrading the project from a repair to a replacement.
Timeline of events:
2021:
* 26 Oct 2021 – Pool closure
Shire announces the Dumbleyung Swimming Pool is closed for safety reasons following major breakdowns.
2022–2023:
* Investigations & concepts
Engineers assess the site, a community working group forms, and a preferred concept design for a new pool is selected.
2024:
* 25 Jun 2024 – Designs revealed
Detailed design plans for the new facility are released to the community.
* 3 Oct & 4 Dec 2024 – Project updates
Shire reports progress on funding, approvals and steps towards demolition and construction.
Early 2025 – Funding secured:
* State Government funding secured through the Community Sporting & Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) ($1.6 million)
* Federal Government funding secured through the Federal Growing Regions Program ($1.6 million)
* Dumbleyung Future Fund ($1.6 million)
* Shire of Dumbleyung Reserves ($700,000)
Grant funding secured for the Dumbleyung Swimming Pool Redevelopment, alongside previously approved Shire budget.
Mid–Late 2025 – Ready to build:
* 5 Aug 2025 – Demolition and pre‑construction
Demolition works and pre‑construction preparations progress on site.
* 17 Oct 2025 – Tender awarded
Construction tender is awarded, meaning the redevelopment project is fully funded and ready for on‑ground works to begin.
Early 2026
* 4 Mar 2026 - Keys handed to Wet Deck Pools
